RECRUITMENT

The first step in becoming a New Member of Omega Phi Alpha is recruitment. The Alpha Chapter follows a selective recruitment system which means that in order for someone to go through our New Member process they must meet certain requirements. Our requirements are laid out for anyone interested at our three informational nights. The most basic requirements are: attend 3 recruitment events, one of which must be Black & White, and maintain a 2.5 or higher cumulative GPA. Our recruitment process is a way for girls to meet our active members and determine if our chapter is the right fit for them.

INFO NIGHTS & SERVICE NIGHTS

At our informational nights the basics of our chapter are presented so that anyone with interest in joining our chapter can ask any questions they may have and get an idea of how recruitment and the new member process works. Our service nights are a way to get to know some of our members while participating in a service project of some kind. These events give potential new members a small taste of the type of service work that our chapter completes.

MEET THE SISTERS

At this event potential new members have a chance to meet and talk with all of our active sisters in an informal setting. Generally we have some sort of conversation prompt or questions for the girls to get to know one another.

BLACK & WHITE

Any girl wishing to receive an invitation to join Omega Phi Alpha, Alpha Chapter must attend this event. It is our final recruitment event before bid day and the official start to the new member process. At this event all attendees wear black and white attire and it is another chance for potential new members to get to know and interact with active sisters. There is generally food and lots of fun times with our members!

NEW MEMBER CLASSES

All the new members must attend pledge classes and learn about OPhiA’s history. There are at least ten new member classes. The new members are expected to attend all the classes. At the end of the classes the new members must take and pass the national test. This qualifies them to participate in activation.
